My comment is regarding a position in which you would actually use what you've learned from the CCNA: Working with Cisco networking equipment. More than likely without a degree or experience you're looking at some sort of entry level tech or support position. This isn't a problem: most of us started this way. It's a great place to start getting quality experience and start meeting people. Having a CCNA will neither be a benefit nor a problem here. In my experience, most of us (or at least the good ones, anyway) started small, built relationships and contacts with many people in the industry, and kept learning everything we could. Move up a rung, learn more. Repeat, repeat, repeat. It takes a while, but I suppose that's why they call it "work".

Despite having a CCNA you might not even touch a router or network install for a while... but this is why experience is so valued in this industry. Good luck, and have fun!

Name is Darren and I read your posts in a particular thread regarding the CCNA cert.

I would like to get a job as a network administrator or just in networking period.I recommended to get CCNA certified but,you were basically saying you won't be able to obtain a job w/ that certification. My question is what do I need to do to obtain a job? You said experience is important but,how can you get experience without no one giving you a chance? You don't know me and you are most likely a busy individual but,I really need some guidance on what I need to do 1st.To I need to get other certifications? What jobs should I be applying for to get in a position where I can get a decent paying job?

I would greatly appreciate your help.
