Looks should have nothing to do with it, however the finish IS nice. HiVi makes "okay" drivers but I wouldn't get woofers smaller than 5.25, or better yet 6.5. Which is the size of that "sub" driver.... :wtf:

Go for 2 way bookshelves+ external amp. NOT the promedia bullshit. Add a nice 10-12 inch sub. Voila.

Typhoon43 10-24-2012 07:08 AM

I'm with looler here. Go with at least an 8" sub or larger. The Mid-subs just don;t have what it takes. You'll get some punch, but pretty much no extension.

tegandje 10-25-2012 01:37 AM

get a bose

KRK rokit 6's are great, got a pair in my studio

Get a monitor subwoofer too

lollersk8s 10-25-2012 02:20 PM

Look for a silk dome tweeter. Avoid polymer/plastic ones.

Personally I avoid any speakers that don't feature a response chart on their documentation/website. Many don't because it exposes peaks or valleys in reproduction, plus most people don't even know what that is so "why bother"

As for that deftec system, I'd rather get their bookshelves such as these:

Or some Paradigm Atoms. Get 5x of those + sub and it's a surround system.

lollersk8s 10-25-2012 02:21 PM

Ps. here they are... great value
