430rwhp @ 19.5 psi, still 90+ degrees in the shop at the time though...

You running almost 20 pounds on Pump gas? Is your timing like -30 or are you running 6:1 CR?

Colonel Sanders 08-31-2016 07:53 PM

You jelly?

lol, it has like 8.7:1 compression, so yeah...

I spun my Typhoon up to 21 pounds on Pump Gas for a bit and can't believe the motor held together. Then again, that was way back in the day so no dash commander or Aeroforce to tell me how much the Knock Retard sensor was pulling

Glad to see the Turbo Turdenbird is got some pep in its step though! Should be a decent little sleeper!

true that. It's one of those "it runs like a beast, but for how long?" kind of setup.

Well that sucked, drove 8 hours to pick it up, then it turns out that it doesn't like 80mph cruising with AC on very much. Had to take it back then drive all the way home empty handed. Now we're putting in a $700 Griffin rad. Sigh.

GhEttOrAiD 09-06-2016 07:44 AM

what did it do when you kicked on the AC

Typhoon43 09-06-2016 12:09 PM

Ouch. I could see it overheating at idle if the IC was blocking enough flow to the rad/condenser, but at 80mph that's downright scary. Honestly an upgraded radiator sounds like a band-aid if it can't stay cool at highway speeds. Of course you could have a shit ton of air in your cooling circuit and then when they slap the Griffin in they purge it properly and then you're completely set

Either way I hope it gets you fixed up so you can can come down to Florida and drag the hell out of my old man Cadillac :D

Colonel Sanders 09-06-2016 03:10 PM

Well you have to keep in mind just how small the stock SC radiator really is due to the stock IC location:

Also cruising at 80 is actually a lot more taxing than most people realize. There's a lot of load at that speed and everything gets heat soaked. Sitting at idle/very low speeds will test your cooling fans, cruising at very high speed tests the entire cooling system.

A lot of people with these cars run into issues with cooling sooner than I did at my previous power levels. We thought we might run into this issue but since the tuner wasn't cruising on the freeway at 80 with the AC on it didn't really present until I got there. Sucks but that's how it goes sometimes.

Ezekial 09-24-2016 10:24 AM

For that much driving, I would have probably would have dropped my speed, took back roads, and dealt with it locally.

Sucks man, I hope this fixes it, and you can pick it up soon!
