any thoughts on this compared to the "Samaritan" video showcasing the capabilities of the latest unreal engine?
it may not be as gorgeous, but apparently it's all gameplay, and fuck does it make me want to play it. the gameplay commercial has a gorgeous buildup until :40 when the video explodes into badass combat

edit: apparently the youtube tag isnt working so i guess just follow the link to the Battlefield 3 commercial on youtube, or search it yourself. my bad, i dont post often

as a huge Bf2 fan, this is going to cause me to purchase a new rig to play it with decent graphics and frame rate.

FML.
Also, EA appears to be segregating the content by region already with the announcement of the "Physical Warfare Pack" for a couple of UK retailers. 4 extras like AP flechette 12Ga ammo, DAO-12, Chinese LMG, etc. They haven't announced what other regions will get, but one of the devs was twatting about each pack being exclusive to the region you buy it in so no unlocking or buying the content later somehow. This will not go over well unless they're just trying to drum up publicity by stirring up the fans, which doesn't make any sense in actuality.
Why EA took the better part of a month to "clarify" the details about this pack is beyond me, but I sense that they've done a bit of back-pedaling after hearing what the BF community thought of region/retailer specific content. The "Physical Warfare Pack" is now a "timed exclusive" and will be available "at a later date to all owners of BF3" if you don't get it from the pre-order.

Also, apparently every scene in that video is from the same map.

It's supposed to be set in Paris, and be like the Rush game mode from BC2. You move through different parts of the city as you take the objectives.

OneWhoKnows 07-21-2011 10:54 AM

Goddamn. I've been playing BF2 lately. Thanks for the reminder to pre-order on Steam!

Codesage 07-21-2011 11:13 AM

It might not be on Steam. It might be Origin only (EA's own bullshit)

Forever Domon 07-21-2011 11:39 AM

that mp video looks a little COD-ey :(

Vigilante 07-21-2011 12:00 PM
