Moar new cabinets

Had a shitty linen closet between my kids' rooms, built out of 1/4" fiberboard, spit, and latex paint. It looked like this:

I had a couple of problems: my house is quite small, so I don't want to sacrifice floor space for AV equipment, and my children are quite hard on anything that's within reach.

After I got my big flat TV last year to replace the 27" CRT we had before that, this was the setup:

Not ideal, and I replaced a couple bluray players on account of "accidental" water damage from the kids.

So, I swapped that shitty linen closet for this:

It's hickory faced with melamine carcass, and adjustable shelves. The drawers, as is my habit, are plywood carcasses, with melamine bottoms, and ball bearing sliders. The doors for the cabinet part aren't finished yet, but should be this weekend. They're 2-pane hickory with some arty-looking sticks in the middle.

Now the living room looks like this:

I built those, they sound great in that room. Not gonna replace them with Bose shit.

Looks great man, but I'm a cable WHORE, so please, for the love of all that is holy, at least Velcro or wire tie some of that stuff. And LOL at the Bose recommendation. I GAVE a set of micro cubes away because they sounded like such ass.

Bose is not very good stuff, people talk it up all the time, but a lot of people don't even care about sound quality. They care about how loud it gets before it totally distorts or how much bass there is,

Nice job dude, almost too nice for the house, lol. Now you have to make the rest of it look as good to match. ;)

Got a pantload of splitloom just waiting for me to get motivated again - I'm still setting up the IR blaster and stuff before I start on prettying up the wiring (though the RAID/network shelf is already split loomed up).

It's in the plans!

The cabinet matches the vanity in the master bath, my work bench, and both my and my daughter's bed.

this, and painting the wall behind the shelving a darker color would help

Make sure to vent the closed cabinet space.

And get recessed speakers.

The cabinet won't be closed. The door panes will have plenty of air circulation, as they're designed based on this (what my friend calls "Spirit Portals"), though I'm not bothering with the dye job that this one has:

And I'm not cutting up my nice 1" plaster walls come hell or high water, so the speakers stay.

You should drink a shake made of arsenic, mercury, iodine, and aspartame. And please chase it with a :goatse: enema

I'm not sure if MonsterCable™ is compatible with my Beats By Dre™ system, broheim.
