USMC Sunglasses

Does anyone know what brand of sunglasses the USMC uses, and if they do use something special if it is possible to get a pair through a reliable retail site?

I really like the design of the part that goes over the ear. They overall just look sooo cool:

the cheap version of the ESS is what I remember being issued

but that was just during MCT, there may be others

I have seen these around numerous times it seems, they stick out to me. The Honor Guard of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier wears the ones I am looking for, and actually General Tom Ryan [Robert Patrick] from The Unit is shown numerous times wearing them.

The part that goes behind the ear goes strait back with no downward curve, it is the gold frame of the glasses through a clear plastic cushion.

Heres another good example of exactly what I am looking for:

More research leads me to believe that they are Issue MIL-S-25948 & 25948J . Manufactured by either Randolph or American Optical? Can anyone confirm that this is what the honor guard currently uses and which manufacture? Anyone know of any GOOD sources of a pair of these?

That's Army. Not Marines. The Army has guarded the unknown soldier since its inception. And that's a soldier in your picture there.

There are no uniform sunglasses for Marines. In fact, I'm about 99.9% sure that sunglasses aren't ever allowed at the position of attention in the Marine Corps.

No hate, just FYI

They're aviators. I had some issued to me at flight school (the fuckers made me turn them in because I'm guard). I didn't check the part numbers you posted, but if you search for aviators or pilot sunglasses you should find what you're looking for.

This should do it. Real aviators are not polarized, but you can get them with polarization. If you know anyone who has access to a PX or NEX you can get them for $25 or so.

Also in case you were wondering, when in uniform, silver frames for enlisted and gold for officers. If for some reason you want to get real authentic with them, you are not allowed to have mirrored lenses either.

Well Googling "USMC sunglasses" would seem to point towards American Optical.

Ask Mofugger.

He's an honor guard when he isn't breaking himself

 yes, stylish.

I have found a final solution. Going on eBay and searching for "Army aviators" reveals a surplus seller who offers these sunglasses. They are made by Randolf Engineering, and run about $60 shipped.

Merry christmas to me :)
