Occupy Wall Street and Etc

So these people are rallying and sleeping on the streets in several major cities. It seems they have a purpose and a mission, but the media says that ultimately they are still very disorganized without a singular message or representative of their cause. (Unless Anon is that representative even then it doesn't seem like enough).

Maybe I am missing the point, but how is a bunch of people sleeping on the sidewalk supposed to uproot the current banking practices and change the way these corporations and governing bodies related to them do business?

From my understanding, unless they start shitting on the door steps of every major company to prevent employees from entering, nothing is really going to change. Not trying to downplay or insult the cause, in fact I think its great that people are standing up for what they believe, but it just seems very inefficient. But it could be just the media again.

What do you guys think, does this movement have enough steam to accomplish its goals?

fuckin hippies, thats all i have to say.

MooK 10-03-2011 09:54 AM

It's not garnering enough public support to do anything. There needs to be an overwhelming outcry.

IcW@teR 10-03-2011 10:01 AM

anyone that's got enough money to hang out protesting doesn't really give a fuck about change. it's like my dad used to say about hippies in the 60's "the majority is just a bunch of preppies trying to get laid with no concern for the causes the supposedly represent".
now we have fuckin hipsters, same shit.

lol. 'anyone who protests must be rich doesn't care about change'. if you fundamentally agree we what they claim to be angry about, and they're out on the street being visible whilst you are sat at home making disparaging remarks about them on the internet, who's more useless? a million hipsters sitting in the street or a million icwaters sitting at home saying how stupid they are for trying anything, who's got more of a chance of being heard?

this assumes he wants to change anything.
if he doesn't care then it doesn't really matter what he does or doesn't do :tard:

Phil Taylor 10-03-2011 01:37 PM

brb to protest guyz, i'm just gonna go get some supplies.

just gonna go spend the money i earned from the system in a chain-store that operates very comfortably within the system, on things made by the system...so i can sit here and rally against the system that i, like it or not, depend on for survival. :tard: the only way to get any change is to vote with your money, but you won't (and i won't) because it's just so much easier to go to Walmart than somewhere unfamiliar, and they're cheaper anyway.

on the contrary, i assume he is apathetic to the point of carelessness, which is why i used a theoretical 'if you agreed with them' to make a point; he couldn't offer an alternative plan even if he did care. that's why i think it's dumb to call them out on their tactics however retarded they are, because at least they made a step that 'sensible people' are too smart and dignified to do, even if it's most likely pointless and ineffective - being publicly vocal about their disagreements. the point is that if everybody followed the hypocrite hipsters lead, more would be achieved than if everyone decided to be smug and condescending at their computers.

also it's sort of funny that ic of all people assumes that anyone with spare time must be yuppies with trust funds (even if a lot of them are).

You are a man child who takes little interest in real life, so naturally south park quotes are what you got to work with.

It's the start of one.

If anyone is confused what it is about google "occupy wallstreet 99 percent" and check out some pics... or go here and read up:

http://occupywallst.org/

Their message comes down to the fact that 99 percent of americans have less wealth than the remaining 1. This country has the most disproportionate distribution of wealth of any modern democracy where "majority rules" by definition. Between the war on terror hoax, gigantic coorporate tax loopholes, and jobs leaving the country something has to give because people are getting to the point where they can't live indoors.

Some of you will have a hard time relating because you have had a cushy nerd life behind a computer desk, but eventually everyone will go down with the ship unless we do something.

The idea that people who do the same or less work as you get 10,000x more money is finally starting to rub people the wrong way. The elite do not help society any more than you do, often less. Rich does not mean job creator, nor that you will take care of the country you live in.

large swathes of the corporate and lobbyist culture certainly need to be reformed, but they're not helping at all

get back to me when they're willing to throw a few molotov cocktails on the trading floor, then they'll earn my respect. as for now it's not a protest, but a parade.
