Nice. 31k miles is a lot, but i'll look the bike over real well. I just sent him an email, hopefully he responds so I can take a look at the bike this weekend. Thanks for the link :)

How worries should I be about the mileage? What should I look for specifically. He said the carbs haven't been cleaned, how much would that type of service set me back at a shop? Also, what where can I take the bike to get looked at. I don't know of any motorcycle mechanics in the area.

I guess it was in the other thread, idk...
IF AN AD SAYS THE CARBS NEED TO BE CLEANED, IT MEANS THE BIKE ISN'T RUNNING WELL AND THEY HAVE NO CLUE WHY.

this is 100% true
Ive tried everythin i can think of and it still runs like ass. You know what I blame? CARBS :D
EFI or bust for my next bike ;)

Just trying to sell this bike and recoup some of the costs since I know i got scammed on it. Hopefully will get it to sell for say.... 1k heh.

edit: when trying to tune the air/fuel ratio to try to not get the bike to run lean/rich, about how long would i have to run the bike for the color/condition of the spark plugs to change such that I would be able to tell if it needed more adjustment? or do i need to buy new spark plugs if they are somewhat fouled (black) ?

I agree with you

FUCK CARBS. This is 2006 EFI FTW!

A few miles at full throttle. Aside from altitude adjustment, the only advantage of EFI is that the seller can't say "clean the carbs" when it doesn't work. Instead, they say it has an electrical problem or something.

And yes, you need to clean or better, replace, the plugs if they are black. Lean out the mixture too.

GOOD DAY, SIR!

Well, as an update to my situation...

The Ninja is now ours, and my dad's paying to fix it ($700ish...), and we don't know what to do with it afterwards...

Since I thought that wa too much power for me still, I found a Used 2004 Honda Rebel 250 off of craigslist, went and took a look, and bought it for 1800 yesterday. I love it. :D

So much easier to ride than the 10 min I had on the Ninja. I'm still getting used to the right combation of pressure to not stall the bike when coming from a standstill, but I'm getting there...
