it's sunny and pleasant mid 50's

we had about 4 inches of snow a couple weeks back which is pretty rare REMEMBER THE ALAMO (snow)

Supposedly about a foot but lots of it will be blown around and drifting. It’s not nearly as bad as people think. Worst part is always the snow bank at the end of my driveway. I grabbed fuel and food last night.

Actually, as long as you have the ground clearance, a well-balanced RWD car is damn good in the snow since you have more steering. AWD and 4WD just make you crash faster because people think that since they can get moving without spinning the tires too bad, they're fine. You do get the benefit of the drivetrain not locking up the front or rear during braking, but modern abs keeps that in check. It's been 7 years since I've had anything other than FWD or RWD, and my Civic is USELESS in the snow without studded snow tires, but my Silverado is fine on all seasons... My work van is a fucking tank and gives no fucks. A couple weeks ago at a job site, I had to move it so a carpenter could get his trailer in to unload, and I drove right up a glare ice hill. After parking it again, one of the plumbers went and looked at my van in amazement and asked what the deal was, I showed him my refrigerant drum racks were in the rear, and all my heavy tools are kept right inside the back door. That van is on cheap all-seasons, too.

I think if it snows there it means the end of days, doesn't?

GhEttOrAiD 01-04-2018 03:57 PM

Oh yeah, rain and "fall back" time change alone will guarantee apocalyptic gridlock.

My Mazda3 seems to do better in the snow(wet or fluffy) than it does on the dry road covered in salt powder. Wants to break loose at every stop/stoplight.
