For my birthday I decided to treat myself (pics)

For my birthday I decided to finally get my rifles off my floor and leaning against my wall into something more presentable and space saving. My plan was to hit Home depot and find some sort of hook setup, but I decided to hit my local gun store first. It turns out they don't really sell them since everyone wants a safe or something to keep burglars/kids away. I don't have kids, and my neighborhood is packed with law enforcement, so it's safe. Been here 8 years and no homes have been hit yet. With that in mind, he did tell me he had one small display rack that he'd let go for 70 bux. I snagged it up, hit ACE hardware, and got to work.

Thje color wasn't going to do. Grabbed some all-in-one primer/paint and laid down 2 coats to match my bedroom's motif, aka BLACK.

Much better.

Matches my entertainment cabinet just fine.

I used giant drywall anchors and then screwed #8 x 1.5" screws into them. Seems pretty damn sturdy actually.

I also decided my Bodyguard .380 wasn't really my style, so I traded it in and grabbed this: Smith & Wesson M&P shield in .40. Made more sense to me to keep my calibers familiar, so now my USP and Shield can eat the same ammo, and I get a little more punch than the .380.

So this is where I stand in my mild arsenal.
AR-15, VEPR-12, Remington 700, H&K USP .40, and S&W M&P Shield .40.

I still want to get a .22 to play with, but not sure if I want to go Semi-auto rifle or pistol. All in all, I Had a killer birthday weekend and got my guns a little more organized. Good times :)

GET A .22

EDIT: and get some cans

EDIT2: and move to some place where you can actually use your guns often (daily even!) and enjoy them.

No shit. Everytime I see yours I'm imagining just sitting out on my front porch and popping off rounds across the field. What's a decent semi-auto style rifle? The M&P 22's look s a little too fake for me.

You can do a lot with a Ruger 10/22.

The answer is, you want at least one of both. My Ruger Mark III is probably my favorite gun.

That's a pretty cool rack; I made a similar thing for my small collection of pistols, although I don't feel totally comfortable having guns just sitting out it the open, so I keep mine locked up. Maybe I'll post a photo of it tonight.

On that occasion, yes I did!

I fired from my living room through the kitchen and the open door into the target about 70 yards away.

Silencers are fun.

Oh, ok. I almost asked how you avoid bullet holes in your walls and furniture, but I figured you must have a system.

I wish I could put up targets in my back yard. I have a hill back there that would be perfect for it, if it weren't for the presence of another house at the top.

I know this is Genmay, but give me just a modicum of credit and consideration, broseph!

I'm not shooting up any trailer parks. ;)

I did - I said I figured "you must have a system." As in, you must have come up with a way to do it safely.

seems cool

i don't get why you painted the gun stand black but left your footwear stand the wooden color though

if you left it the original color at least that half of the room would have matched

but then you would have to do a wood finish on that black tv stand

the whole situation is really setting off my autism antenna
