Is there any increased risk of pregnancy if you take your pills like this:

When I am on my period, I only take the period pills until my period stops. Then I start taking regular hormone pills again, even though there may be remaining sugar pills (such as my period lasts for 5 instead of the allotted seven). I figure this is just adjusting to my cycle. I don't want to be taking sugar pills if I am two days into my ovulation cycle again.

But, is this is a bad idea? Does it actually increase my risk?
Giving yourself a 26-day cycle means your period will be more often (a 28-day cycle means approx. 13 periods/year, and a 26-day cycle means 14 periods/year) and why would any girl want to have extra periods?
