While the releases of OSX provide smaller changes than those seen between major versions of Windows, they are priced accordingly.
I wish MS would adopt a more Apple approach to their OS (buy once, install it on any number of Apple computers you can find; incremental upgrades more frequently for less money; etc), but I know it can't/won't. It's one of the few things, IMO, that Apple does really well wrt OSes. As far as leaving older hardware in the lurch? I wouldn't have a problem with that either if MS implemented that.
you obviously haven't seen 2008 R2 SP1. Granted the improvements in Hyper-V won't be seen until Server 8.
