Share btw laptop and desktop working, but isnt prompting for pass

I have network sharing setup and working between my Mac laptop (OSX Lion) and Win 7 64bit desktop working. But no matter what I try I cant get windows to prompt for a username and pass when I connect from my laptop. Password protected sharing is turned on in my network settings.

Is it because the laptop and desktop are on the same network that I'm not being prompted for a pass?

Check your keychain via Keychain Access (Applications/Utilities). Open it up and look for any references to your Win7 machine and delete them Reboot your Mac and try remounting the share.

Thanks...but not quite. Deleted what seemed to be the only reference to my desktop and deleted and restarted. Still reconnected without a password.

As a test, try creating another user account and mounting the share in Finder under that account. Does it prompt for a password then?
