2004 350z new window motor problems

We installed a new window motor in my friends wifes 04 350z vert last night and now when you use the automatic up the window rolls all the way up, then back down 3". When you roll the window up without using automatic up, it goes all the way up and stops. Also with the top up, when you open up the door, it usually rolls the window down about 1/8" so it will clear the rubber molding, but it won't do that either.

What did we do wrong? I was thinking we should have installed the motor with the window all the way up, but we did it with the window down. It seems like the motor has an automatic stop when it goes up, but not down. It keeps spinning with the button pressed down. I'm thinking that the window is trying to go too far up, but it doesn't have an anti pinch safety feature, so why would it automatically reverse itself?

Am I right?

check the owner's manual. there may be a learning procedure it has to go through.

i know on my Mazdaspeed6, if the battery is disconnected, the auto up feature won't work until you re-learn each window.

edit: if it has auto up, why wouldn't Nissan include an anti-pinch safety feature?

that's a little more involved than what i thought it would be, but seeing as you replaced the window motor, it would be expected.

As it turns out, we only had to take off the interior door panel. There was an access port in the door skin that was covered up, so we ripped that off, followed the procedure. Bingo Bango... works like a charm.

And it only took 15 minutes.
