Can't think of the name for the life of me. It's a racing drop pipe or some shit like that. It's designed to run exhaust to a stock exhaust while on the street and while at the track, the car owner can flip the switch to wide open flow

3mpg is pretty impressive though, 18-21MPG now?

one day i'll build a motor that needs a custom computer, then i'll delete a fair amount of the emissions stuff

This is a misconception.

If he lost torque it is because he LOST flow, at least at low RPM. Correct pipe sizing for the given column of moving gas is important. If the exhaust opens up too much the gasses cool as they expand and lose velocity. Hotter gasses are less dense and therefore move faster, and vice versa. Hence he lost flow at low RPM even if he has a larger pipe or whatever.

At more RPM this comes in handy of course. Same thing as header primary sizes - it's a trade off.

"Too much flow" is not a problem though.

blah blah blah
i know there's no such thing as necessary backpressure, but considering JJ's mastery of the mechanical medium, i didn't bother going into that as it's not useful information for him right now

You are right though odds are it is fine, I've only heard of sludging being bad from the known problem makes like abused 1.8ts and Toyota V6's. We worry too much about this shit

It'll also eat off the Teflon coating on Eaton supercharger rotors...

My father in law always believed it would "swell seals and stop leaks"... And in a couple of cases, it worked for me.

Well you can use rolls of toilet paper with a tin can, or just hollow out a filter and never change it again... since it's a toyota. Nothing you do will bring the beast to sickness
