School Me on Corned Beef and Cabbage

As the title suggests, who has experience with this dish? Dos, Donts, anything? Going to attempt it Saturday and figured I'd try and get some pointers before I try some random recipe. Thanks in advance

Do not make plans after the meal that include tight spaces/crowds, or activities involving open flames. The only things worse, IMHO are /Taco Cabana beef fajitas and the king........pickled eggs and budweiser.

They are amazing.

Also OP, be sure to cook it in a well aired area......the dish smells as bad as your farts.....I think its just the cabbage...also, add carrots.....ive done that once of the few times I have made it....pretty good.

You can actually make your own. You have those pickled pigs feet or pickled sausage?

Get that , eat them, hard boil eggs, shell them, drop them in the pickling juice from the sausage or pigs feet for a week or so.....yum.

I have never seen the feet or the sausage in pickle format either. I'm sure I can find it in some specialty deli of something but pig feet? Really?

corned beef is super simple, just buy one that comes with the spice packet which most do, put it in water + packet, boil it for a few hours, add cabbage, boil some more, squirt a shit ton of mustard on the beef and some butter on the cabbage and eat that shit up

Rofl

Pretty simple yet filling and delicious dish. Flatulence after can provide additional enjoyment.

My step dad usually boils it up for a few hours depending on size and serves with cabbage. Best with spicy brown mustard.

Could go for some just typing this.
