A question for vinnie

If you had the ability to do so, would you have a firearm once you got out of the military? I know that currently it is against the law in your country. What I am saying is what if it was legal.

All this requires is a yes or no answer. No explanation necessary.

A very simple question, requiring a very simple answer.

No.

I'm touched you made a thread for me. PM's work as well. You could even hit me up on AIM or MSN or something... but yeah, I like being in thread titles.

You may want to work on your fact checking too... there's a grievous error or two in your post. I'll give you a hint, my parents were sports pistols shooters even after they finished their commonwealth service.

n9vmo, leave the poor man alone.

He clearly believes that he should not be trusted with a firearm unless he has orders from his superiors to have one.

The cost of joining a mandatory gun club, purchasing a decent firearm, purchasing and installing the required storage facilities and cost of travelling to a range and transporting the firearm are well outside of my recreational price tags.

That's okay though, I appreciate that I am the only person in this subsection that is aware that there is media not directly controlled by Americans, so feel free to carry on

Truly, I was not going to fuck with him anymore. I was just wanting some clarification for my own edification.

I am glad to see by this post that personal firearms ownership is not totally banned in AUS.

It is too bad that you have to join a mandatory gun club to go shooting. All I have to do is either pay my range fees at the local indoor range, go out to an old gravel pit or way out in the woods, or climb in my buddy's car and go to his range and open fire.

I didn't pay over $500 for any of the guns that I own. My pistol cost me $136 and my M-1 Garand cost me $450. The two .22 rifles that I own I got from my father when he passed. None of my firearms are registered because in this state (Indiana) you do not need to register them.

Required storage facilities? What are those? The .22s are in the basement, the pistol and my M-1 are in my bedroom and the ammo is in a 3rd location. None of them are locked up and by law they don't need to be. All of them are out of the reach of my 4 yr old and he knows that if he touches one of them without my wife or myself being there, he is not going to be able to sit down for a week.

I have to agree with you vinnie with regards to the price of transportation. Gas prices here in the states are outrageous, around $2.25 per Gallon but I also know that is cheap compared to other countries in the world who price it by the Ltr. And lately I have found that I have less and less time to go shooting unfortunately. Luckily, if the opportunity arises, all I have to do is grab my guns and ammo and go.

And BTW, I do realize that there are media outlets that are not controlled by the American government. BBC and Reuters come to mind. How do I know? Well there was a day when I used to listen to the world service of the BBC and Radio Australia on the shortwave radio. It made interesting listening and was very informative. Just too bad my SW receiver has gone T.U.
