nope, but I mean the guy makes a wrench that can easily be used to torque down a nut, why could it not make a knife or something along the lines of a boxcutter like what was used to hijack planes in the past? Obviously this material won't be detected by metal detectors, and can be made strong enough with epoxy resins to withstand at least some punishment....

You serious? All you need to make a plastic knife, one stronger than anything that machine produces, is a sander and a piece of plastic. Amazingly, no one has bothered since it'd still be crap. Especially since if you wanted to sneak an actual usable knife through a metal detector all you'd need to do is go to the nearest cooking supply store, buy a ceramic knife for $15, break off the handle, duct tape some wood into a new handle and be on your way. The media fear industry sure has been effective with you is all I can say.

approvisionnement.

I always remember a talented automotive engine builder who designed a new type of rocker arm setup for OHV engines (a bit like a Jesel rocker system) that decided to get his parts prototyped by a Chinese manufacturer.

He supplied the CAD drawings/specs and was assured it would be a 12 week turnaround until the pieces would be delivered. So he waits around and 2 months later sees his parts advertised in some hot rod magazine. Too bad it was from some company he never heard of. Fortunately (or unfortunately depending on your point of view) there was an inherent flaw in the design (hence the need for an actual testing prototype). His name was never put on the pieces so he didn't lose his reputation over the fiasco.

Lesson: Be careful trusting the Chinese with anything you hope to make a buck on.

3d printing or any other rapid prototyping CNC tool is probably your best bet for prototyping of the casing. the PCBs etc. can be ordered, along with the components. once you have a working prototype - then think about mass manufacturing. "where" you do it is not as much of a question as the other business sides of things.
