yea... about that. Walking up a stair is like doing a mini leg press over and over and over again, Most people can't do that for long without getting tired.

try walking up 20 flights of stairs and see if you are not tired, or at least have some nice burn in your legs

If you could walk up 20 flights at a continuous pace that wasn't slow, without having an elevated heart rate and breathing heavy, I'd be impressed.

Done it. Not bad at all. I'm also the kind of guy that loves mountainous regions.

I went up and down a 1.3Km mountain 3 times in a day, pretty easily. I walked 4 miles in a suit and had to go between floors several times in a day using the stairs. Doing physical activities while wearing a suit is never fun.

Every man should be able to do one rep of their own body weight for squats, dead lift and bench press.

well see theres the thing, you do it constantly. Probably built up those muscles.

I know full well about the suit shit, i gotta bike to work sometimes in the heat 32c and biking in a suit sucks balls.

I can hike a mountain, but ill be damned if my legs are not on fire afterwards. then again, i only do it like once a year or so

Right, and you'd also be breathing heavy.

edit: and I mean a typical high-rise flight, so about 16 steps each.

In shape to me is anyone who can climb two floors of stairs without altering their breathing pattern.

I can bike 100 miles such as I did at a race earlier this season and bike everyday to work, but I'm not sure I can bench my own weight (don't remember what I benched whenever I did that a few years ago?). I do consider myself to be quite in shape at 6'4" 170

I used to run stairs to train, we'd do like 37 flights in the stadium.

Shit sucked. I was in really good shape back then though.

i remember doing rep of 10 or 20 sets of stairs (outdoor stairs, so like 30 steps) after a 5 or 10 mile run.

That shit sucked.

Yeah, stairs are the worst. I remember doing high-knee stairs for training and it sucks when at the best shape of my life I still weighed almost 200lbs.
