Have any black celebrities endorsed anyone but Obama?

I was watching Leno who had on Arsenio Hall and the question of the election came up. Jay asks him who he endorses and Hall said he's excited about Obama (and then went on the overplayed differences between blacks/whites people routine). One thing I hate is the idea of an "African American community", this is just a BS coat of collectivist racism, and yet prominent black figures promote it all the time (Oprah being the big one, of course). In my opinion this type of thinking is far more harmful to race relations in this country than some stupid white hick in the South who still hates darkies.

So, for my sanity, can anyone hopefully prove me wrong? Have any prominent blacks endorsed/promoted anyone OTHER than Obama?

To make it worse some black people criticize Obama and won't vote for him because he isn't "black enough."

Have you ever voted for anything else than a rich white man, or told anyone else to do just that?

I personally find it more interesting what the few rare wiki-notable black women vote, if you catch my drift.

Oh and just so that someone gets agitated, I'll say one could write some PC rant here about race or something, but considering you're just a dime-a-dozen RP shithead with a chip on your shoulder for the upcoming events, it's best to just shut up and smile inside

Why should celebrities be involved anyway? That is what makes American politics different from the rest of the world's.

It certainly is odd. Is there some sort of ruling preventing these kind of endorsements in our country? or is it just a case of us being less... convicted and vocal in our political beliefs on the whole?

Calling the African American community racism is pretty lame. People band together when they face discrimination because of a common trait and even if you don't want to be part of any "black community" you're probably going to get labeled that by Whites (and other ethnicities) anyway, I don't really see how that's racism in and of itself. The African American community is as much a child of white society as is of black society.

It seems that a lot of conservatives/libertarians declare anything that acknowledges race/racism exists is itself racist.

Well, the idea that race goes any further than basic anatomical commonalities formed by historically-isolated populations is what most people would describe as racism. So you can form a group that's as exciting as the Brunette Community or the Green-Eyed Community, but most people form those kinds of groups based on social, commercial and intellectual commonalities, and to say that race is a relevant criterion for any social, commercial or intellectual pursuit is racism.

If the United States was an ethnic vacuum and blacks formed a group specifically to promote their own interests over other ethnic groups you might have a point. The reality is that black people have historically and continue to face racism from society as a whole. One of the ways blacks have to counteract racism is to form groups that promote (or claim to) black interests. I don't consider trying to achieve equality through grouping with others who are also disadvantaged for the same reason racism, you can if you like but it's just pointless semantics.

Sorry cupcake. To think that there is no variation in the very thing that sets us apart from other animals is idiocy.

To assign positive or negative values to differences that are at best difficult to perceive is also idiocy.

I seriously don't know how to respond to this except to say that you should check into a mental hospital on account of having a thought disorder.
