208K on an M3? I'd walk... no, I'd RUN, away, unless it was maintained extremely meticulously.

It appears to be meticulously maintained.

If he had all the receipts and shit, you could try to get it for $3k, and then put the rest of that insurance check into the bank and only use it for the inevitable repairs. If you don't put 50k miles a year on a car, that might last you more than a couple years.

I wouldnt personally pull that trigger, but its not the worst idea in the world.

If you know what you are doing, you can get a lot of car for under $5k without any mechanical faults.

A 318 is too small for what I want, but the car itself is worth sharing.

This is more the right size, thoughts?

He had the belts and bushings replaced, water pump all that shit.. That's nice. What worries me is the control arms It's probably a salvage title for that price with front end repairs.

Would be great if you were looking to redo a car for fun or track, but I wouldn't trust a $3500 M3 as a primary driver without mechanical skills, assuming you were okay with the way it looked inside and out.

I'd go the used route in that situation, but everyone's different.

Given that you're in the army, and may get shipped all over the place, having a car that also comes with a loan you'd have to extricate yourself from seems like it'd be a hassle. With a car you own outright, you could just throw it up on craigslist and knock that task out with a day's notice.

I have a house with a garage full of tools though, and 20 years of experience maintaining used cars, though, so the idea of a car that could conceivably need some work doesn't faze me.

That posting was created by either a Nigerian prince or a serial killer. The cheapest listing I've seen in my area for an M3 is around $8.5k owned by a shady kid.

Cheaper to keep a stripped track devoted car in my area for small weekend events than to be a road warrior on shitty roads with asshole cops.

Ok, wtf. Why is Massachusetts hoarding all the MT A6's? I search my state and the 5 surrounding states and there's 1 of these cars, but go over to MA and it's like they fucking grow on trees.

I find fucking 5 on Boston(/nearby) CL.

Edit: Since everyone's hating on the high mileage E36's, here's a slightly-less high mileage one with no maintenance history, yay!

I'd toss a 6MT 5.5gen Maxima ('02-'03) out as a suggestion. I enjoyed the 9.5+ years I had mine.
