Electric M3 revisited

I'd love to try it. This thing will eventually do the Pikes peak climb, and hopefully win.

I recommend you watch this clip on youtube and change the quality to 720 or 1080. It's like looking into the future

That's cool and all, but what is that extra 400lbs of batteries going to do to the handling?

According to Tex more weight = better handling!

I'd be curious to know what the car's final weight is. Shouldn't be much more than a stock M3, considering the sunroof mechanism is 40lb, the power seats are 64 lb x2, full tank of gas is like 120lb, full size spare tire is 50lb... Then the AC compressor and all associated hardware is roughly 60lb.

There's a few 2900lb e36 M3s around on M3F/BFc (stock is 3150), doesn't take more than a little wrenching and some 14lb race seats to get there. Now imagine being able to get rid of the entire exhaust system with headers, cats mufflers = 100lb; The stock motor HAS to weigh more than two 12 inch electrics...

I'd guess it's in the 2800lb range, a fair amount lighter than stock and probably still has 50/50 weight.

All I could think while watching this was:
A) thats really loud for an electric car
B) is he actually impressed with the car, or is he impressed its not a prius?
C) his voice sounds like this:
+ YouTube Video
ERROR: If you can see this, then YouTube is down or you don't have Flash installed.

that someone, maybe pyramid posted in the chat thread i think

Ive seen a drivable 2350 lb e36 M3 - one race seat, turndowns after headers, nothing left behind, no cage at the time.

2200 is pretty crazy

It's great that people are finally experiencing what it's been like to drive a rotary powered car for the past 40 years.

the good thing about weight from batteries is you can mount that shit really low, like under your feet low so the CG is ridonkulously low.

yea except the part where they have no torque and can't pass smog... and then die while you drive around with a temporary permit.
