What point do you think you're making here, other than bashing poor people in a totally reactionary fashion? You're seriously going on a huge rant about how some guy working hard to try to afford education and a vehicle is...what?
Laughing in satisfaction that the liberals here are coincidentally the dumb fucks who can't hold down a decent job Surprise surprise.

My point was simply that those items are a luxury. There is something much cheaper and just as useful, but people are too lazy and too stupid to recognize it. Why not sign up for debt and interest out the asshole? Then I get to sit and wonder why with what work they DO manage, they can't afford jack shit after that. Or manage a savings account.

Wasn't it your boy Dubya that thought it would be awesome to go on a massive spending spree, commit to war, and cut taxes to help pay for it all? Just calling that one out for you.

/inb4 Obama continued the policy.

Also, I don't expect you to understand this, but they don't want people who think to work for them. They like to keep people like you fat, dumb, and happy because you blabber on the loudest about what they want the rest of us to think. Meanwhile, you submit to drudging along with your stagnated salary, with full knowledge of this or not (most likely not), getting fucked in the ass by these people who are taking all the fruits of your labor for themselves, and try to say that if we all worked harder, this wouldn't be happening?

Ok, say we all did work a little harder. Where do you think the money will come from to pay all of these people, or to purchase all of the potential surplus goods and services? Since you guys are such Keynesian fanbois, your closed loop system needs a liquidity injection. You know, like the last two we had. The ones you bitched about. Yeah, those. Except it does nothing to alleviate the problem of ridiculous sums of money being trapped at the top because of your fucking retarded trickle down economics policy. How the hell do you people say the economy is a closed loop, then try to tell us the wealth will trickle down? It doesn't. It's fucking impossible because the money will always return to the source. If we held on to the money, by not buying these so-called "luxury items," like food and clothing, profits would drop, which would trigger layoffs. The money, by default, will return to source, as you try to survive while looking for another job that doesn't fucking exist, leaving you without a source of income.

There is no way for people like us to win in your trickle down economic system. It is the most protectionist economic policy devised yet... and it's killing this country. It has reduced the diversity of all economic sectors, which makes us extremely vulnerable to "bubbles" in the economy. Just in case you haven't figured that one out for yourself, yet. So, your boy's policy fucks you, and me, and every other decent human being that would work to make a living... if they let you, that is.

You people need to go back to the playground and figure out how to share and play nice with the other kids again. This shit's killing us.

I still haven't taken over the cell phone bill or car insurance yet (I promised my mom I would later this year after I finish with some hospital bills I had for surgery).

Laugh at people all you want for living at home, it kicks ass when you stay at your girlfriends a lot of nights and pay no rent spending the rest of the nights at home I'm hoping to fill up my emergency fund and then fill up ~20k in savings for my first house before I even consider moving out.

What, do you not know what a strawman fallacy is? You brought up all those fucking things, nobody else was saying that smokes and booze and cable were necessities or essential to life.

My household income is in the top 15% nationally, and I have a PhD in a hard science. Pretty sure that counts as "not a dumb fuck" and "having a decent job." I just happen to have a tiny little bit of empathy for other people who weren't fortunate to have the same breaks I did, like parents who could pay for college.

Or, you know, a free place to live after getting out of college.

Also I care about things like "Not letting the financial institutions do whatever the fuck they want and destroying the world economy." But I guess that's socialism.

In his defense I reacted pretty negatively when he insinuated people who spend money on "luxury" goods (cigs, cable, etc) aren't really poor. I don't believe that a poor person's life should be devoid of leisure, and a TV is hardly a luxurious item in 21st century America. Like a car, it's not a necessity; however, it (and other leisure activities) is crucial to mental health and, subsequently, productivity.

It's really beside the point anyway. No one is ever going to move from "Poor" to "Not Poor" by saving $60 a month not having cable or not smoking. Poor bashing is just a smokescreen.

We've got much bigger problems with our economy, things that cannot be solved by "working harder." There are major structural problems, it's not a level playing field and it's almost mandatory to start with certain advantages to succeed in life. Everyone outside of the very top should be concerned, pretending like only "the poors" are complaining and suffering is just completely out of touch with reality.

Romney is a pretty good example of the problems in our system. Do we really want to elect the guy who literally made his livelihood exploiting the rigged financial system?

In your head, are liberals the 47% of the nation that doesn't pay taxes and the republicans are the 53% that does?

just curious.

obviously not to your extreme, but if you're going to be honest you know that the ratio is certainly in that direction.

I haven't had a tv for nine years and I don't think I'm suffering by that.

I've been disappointed in the new eps, they just don't compare in quality (in writing/laughs) to the original run

Nope. That was clearly mentioned.

I would like to see updated numbers but I question how much that has changed.

Compare with the more recent state GDP numbers.

Thd point is you cant quote 7 year old data in support of your argument in this instance. Things change, the economy was completely different 7 years ago.

I think he also missed the part where there are plenty of people who don't vote What a toolbag. There's shitloads of mexicans and darkies (as well as whiteys) that abuse government handouts here in Texas, but guess what? State always goes red . My point simply being - that what OTHER PEOPLE do, dictate how the MAJORITY of voters will vote.
