Setting up wireless D-Link router as wireless AP (DI-614+)

So I've got this DI-614+ wireless router. I hate it, but I need a WAP for my laptop.

We already have a router running in the basement for our home network, and I just want this to run wireless duty. Has anybody configured a D-Link wireless router as a WAP only?

Thanks for any help, this thing is being a pain in the ass. Any time I set something that it doesn't like, I have to start over again from factory defaults. Weeee...

good luck, most of the routers I have played with don't have the capability of functioning as an access point

i don't know how the setup menus are arranged in a dlink router, but there should be a section in there where you can select the function ... router, bridge, switch, AP, whatever

turn off dhcp in the wireless router and nat if there's an option

use a crossover cable to connect a port from the wired router to one of the lan ports of the wireless router

Or, couldn't I just use the WAN port for that?
I've turned off DHCP a few times.

Oh shit, there we go. I plugged a standard cable into port 1 (not WAN) of the router, and disabled dhcp. Voila. Laptop is online and in my network. Thanks
