What do they typically test for in a urine test?

I applied for some new jobs recently, live in canada it's a oil patch job, and they called me at 8 tonight because of time zone difference I guess and told me the jobs mine if I pass a drug test, they want me to piss tomorrow and start monday. I kinda got caught off guard and didn't really want to ask but now I'm nervous cause I was out eating wings and beer at the time are these normally drug only or is alcohol also in there.

Thanks.

If you haven't done any drugs only thing to worry about is them telling you you're diabetic

if they do they'll do a breath test with the machine and all.

alcohol content + urine = doesn't work.

blood or breathalyzer for alcohol

urine, blood or hair for all other drugs

They wont be testing for alcohol, only "drugs", ie usually the big 5, cocaine, opiates, marijuana, pcp and amphetamines.

alcohol is detectable in urine just fine, as are the metabolites, they could test you after the fact to prove you were dui during an accident.

You don't have to worry, The position seemed to be urgent and they need someone to start right away. I guess this is just a standard protocol.

I have had employers test for presence of alcohol on a pre employment screening. My understanding is they simply don't want someone who would party the night before, etc. and be irresponsible enough to come in for a job with alcohol still in their system. Or so I was told....

Off topic but hilarious. My dad is subject to surprise drug tests and one time he tested positive for opiates. Luckily he has been working there for 16 years and they believed the story he told them. Turns out the night before the test him and his buddies were pounding shots and chasing them with Hamantash (Jewish poppy seed pastry). Apparently he consumed enough of them to test positive on the piss test.

The more you know, right?
