The rubber feet don't serve any electrical purpose, they're only there to keep the clock in place, and somewhat for looks.

The highest voltage on the clock is 180VDC, which doesn't need much standoff distance. I wouldn't put wood directly against the top/bottom PCB surfaces of the clock - giving about 1/16" distance from the top surface of the clock should be sufficient to provide HV isolation and leave room for any component leads. I'd probably do 1/8" on the bottom since some of the component leads are a bit longer, though it's OK if they touch - nothing 'long leaded' is HV.

The aluminum standoffs between the bottom of the clock and the feet are 1/8", you could reuse them to support the clock if you're bottom-mounting it.

You can put wood directly against the edges of the PCB without issue.

Anyway, PM received. I'm gonna give the clock a blast in the ultrasonic bath here to clean up any solder flux etc, and mail it out today on my way home. It'll probably take a week to get there.

When AC adapters come in. Unfortunately I'm on vacation for the first couple weeks of august, if they arrive before then I'll mail them out, if not it'll be the end of august.

Also just discovered something: Ultrasonic baths destroy 32KHz crystals. Domon, your clock is nice 'n clean, but I'll have to put a new crystal on it and mail it out tomorrow.

VFD = not designed yet. If there's 5 interested people then I'll design/build one, it'll be a few months before I do that though.

Nixie clock = 80 bucks for a kit, 100 for assembled/tested clock, plus whatever it costs to ship a 1lb, 6x4x3 inch box to wherever you are. On the Canada Post website it's $18 air and $10 ground, before taxes. I can also ship UPS, as there's a nearby UPS depot, but Fedex and DHL are a pain in the ass to get to (gotta cross a toll bridge)

yeah... ultrasonics are way stronger than they seem. They'll blow out any crystal with harmonics in their range.

If people want chassis, itll be a bit longer, but those can be shipped after the clocks too and after you see the design so you know what it looks like and if you like it.

I imagine itll take me a month to design, and then i can knock out 2 a week or so

Mailed out Domon's clock this afternoon, and had them calculate shipping rates for me from Canada Post:

- $10.10 to the USA via 'small packet air', which is 4-10 business days
- $8.52 to the USA via 'small packet ground', which is 6-12 business days. (meh)

Didn't do any other countries. This is registered mail without package tracking.

I scammed packing materials from work for Domon's clock, but I can't do that for all of them - so I do have to go buy cardboard boxes, bubble wrap, etc. I'll probably say it'll be $15 total for shipping. So $95 CAD shipped, $115 if you want the a clock fully assembled.

Nixie tubes have gone up a lot in price so this rate will only be for 12 clocks. I'm emptying half of a box of 100 tubes that I got for ~$200 to my door back in 2006, but you can't do that anymore:

sigh.

Gee, one of my clocks from your first run has had two tubes fade out over time. If you have two extras would you consider selling them?

Shouldn't be an issue. I've got a few tubes with insulator colors that don't match anything else, you could steal the insulators off the bad tubes for them.

One thing I'll warn - on the rev3 clocks (first genmay run) the holes for the nixie tube pins were tight - if you're not confident in your soldering/desoldering skills, you might want to find someone who is. Getting the holes clean enough to fit pins from a new tube in is a bitch, and the CustomPCB boards don't like being reworked - pads will lift off etc.

If you do shag the clock up trying, I could arrange something like a 'partial kit' of PCBs/components, so you can steal parts from your existing clock to build a new one.

AC adaptors are in.

Gonna pick up packing supplies, start kitting things up, and start taking orders - I'll get this done later today. I'm going on vacation Thursday so it'll be a busy week getting these out..
