Good GOD are Sig firearms expensive. I really wanted one for my first pistol, but couldn't even begin to pay that much for it. Now I find I'm quite happy with my M&P.

On my 1911, you can not put the safety on unless the hammer is cocked. I love this setup. After a day at the range it become second nature to unlock the safety with your thumb as you're drawing the weapon.
