Proof please. It seems you added an extra zero on there by mistake.

Compare this to Saddam Hussein who killed maybe 300,000 in his 25 years in power.
And proof again please. It seems you've left out Iranians and Kurds from your low estimate.

I hope you're joking. Im not sure how throwing in a few childish insults and implying invading Iraq was somehow neccessary to preserve democracy in the US is supposed to be convincing.

It was the extra "" he threw in there.

It all makes so much sense now.

Its better. I will probobly get blasted for it but, it falls in line with the "it takes money to make money" thing... "it takes lives to save lives".

If this works and I dont care where its currently at, im willing to keep pushing as long as their is a glimmer of hope for a free iraq. The economical benifits of a free iraq are outstanding.

Lancet report on mortality in Iraq. Not discredited, despite what the rightwing media tells you. Only discredited in the minds of people who don't understand what a confidence interval is.

I'm talking democide not war here. Yes, if you place sole responsibility for the Iran/Iraq and Gulf wars on Saddams shoulders he is responsible for a whole lot more. However, in both cases, there was a part the US played in sparking off a conflict.

I kind of believe the same, im not really proud of how things are going, but if in the end everything turns out peachy i will say that the ends for me justify the means

Come hither Sancho Panza, I have need of my Lance

This weekend's NYT tried to paint a more detailed face on the type of fighting going on in Iraq, which sound just ghastly. Iraqis now think Shiite militias are the most dangerous force in their country; not Americans, not terrorist insurgents. I would put out that civil war can be defined as believing your fellow countryman is your biggest threat and acting accordingly.

http://www.nytimes.com/2006/03/26/in...html?th&emc=th

Quote:
In the last month, hundreds of men have been kidnapped, tortured and executed in Baghdad. As Iraqi and American leaders struggle to avert a civil war, the bodies keep piling up. The city's homicide rate has tripled from 11 to 33 a day, military officials said. The period from March 7 to March 21 was typically brutal: at least 191 corpses, many mutilated, surfaced in garbage bins, drainage ditches, minibuses and pickup trucks.
US forces are finding themselves with no choice but to begin attacking Shiites.

http://www.nytimes.com/2006/03/27/in...ed=1&th&emc=th

Quote:
American and Iraqi government forces clashed with Shiite militiamen in Baghdad on Sunday night in the most serious confrontation in months, and Iraqi security officials said 17 people had been killed in a mosque, including its 80-year-old imam.

The American military, clearly worried about exacerbating a combustible situation that many Iraqis are already describing as civil war, denied that American forces had entered the mosque. But it said in a statement that 16 insurgents had been killed and 15 captured in a nearby combat operation against a terrorist cell.

The differing versions of what happened seemed to raise a broader question about who is in control of Iraq's security at a time when Iraqi politicians still have not formed a unified government, sectarian tensions are higher than ever and mutilated bodies keep surfacing on the streets. On Sunday, Iraqi authorities found 10 bodies in Baghdad and said they were investigating a report that 30 men were beheaded near Baquba.

The Lancet Report has been discredited. Besides, anyone that read how their household survey was taken must view it as pathetic at best....... having taken the word of mouth proof of visiting 980 Iraqi homes to come up with the doom-and-gloom hot number of 100K for the media.

And I like how you automatically throw in "Not discredited", knowing yourself that it's a paper with bogus numbers.

If you didn't just blindly buy into the Fox News Big Lie, then you would know that the survery people asked to see death certificates to confirm all deaths.

Also, they deliberately exluded one of their sets of data (from fallujah) as an outlier, so if anything their number is an underestimate.

I bought up the idea of it being discredited because I know plenty of people here are stupid enough to believe that.
