He's about as effective as a deer hunter with a red ryder.

But he keeps on trying, and I'll give him credit for that - I figure his mother told him that someone as 'special' as him could do anything if he kept trying.

that is unless you want that precise design, and its different from everyone elses. Then itll cost something, but thats not what im going for here, i want to make one design

I'd charge for materials at the very least - hardwood ain't cheap. Besides, once you've made your fifth case and mangled your fingers a couple of times, the enjoyment starts to wear off pretty quick.

You're getting a clock from me in exchange for a case. Let me know when you get started on this project, I'll fire one in the mail to use as a reference.

if i just have to buy one board, the hardwood costs wont be terrible, these are tiny little cases. Now if people start wanting multiple woods, and multiple designs, yeah, thats gonna cost

My current estimate for the clock is 90 CAD for a kit, 110 for a fully assembled/tested clock. I might be able to knock it down to 80, depending on how much I can avoid shipping/brokerage/etc.

The header on the front of the clock which connects the two PCBs together costs ~1.40/ea from Samtec, but ordering them myself I'd pay 25 bucks shipping and probably 30 bucks brokerage/duty/taxes for the lot once it's in my hands. Gonna see if I can order them through work and avoid that expense.

Other thing is AC adaptors, I can get them for 2.50/pop off ebay but don't know if I can trust them at that price. I can get good ones for 7-8/pop, but don't want to pay that much.

how picky on voltages are the nixie tubes? I didnt look at the board design, do the steppers to push the voltage way up also have regulators? Ifso, shitty input voltage shouldnt matter

Minimum voltage is about 7V, below that the high voltage supply might not be able to supply enough current to run the tubes. Above 12V, the HV supply controller sometimes won't start up properly. 9V is pretty much ideal.
