Should I buy another Acura Legend? v. Recommend a car!

Alright, so here's the deal.

I had a '91 Acura Legend LS. I got it by chance but then I immediately learned that it's a hell of a car. I love the power, luxury, and style of the car. The car was way ahead of it's time. So I can buy another one (I see a few on Craigslist) but here's the issue. These cars are known for blowing gaskets around 200k miles (and all of the Legends are just about there.)

Personally I like smaller cars though. Like AWD DSMs (Yeah I know I know) or Integras, 240sx, or something like that. Something small and sports, but it HAS to have a back seat (I have a wife and daughter.)

So I can either go with another Legend or a different car all together. Price I'm looking at is 2k or less. :/

But anyway, here's what I want to know. I need a car now. What should I be looking for? Sorry for the long thread but thanks for all contributions!

So what happened to the original one you had? Which engine are you talking about? Never heard of cars deciding to blow their headgaskets at such high mileage for no reason, if there are design issues with a head gasket they usually go much earlier than that. In my experience daily driver head gaskets are usually blown when the car is driven while overheating.

Oh I thought I mentioned it but I didn't, lol.

Anyway, the damn car caught fire! It wasn't pretty.

Here's a link to the post-fire carnage.

No I didn't overheat it, I just happen to belong to a Legend club and this problem is fairly common (the BHG, not the fire)

WRX for 2k? Really? (I'm not being sarcastic, I just didn't know it can be had for that price.)

it was sort of a joke, since your engine burned up

sounds like you know your way around the car. I'd go for it. longitudinal engine = easy head gaskets too.

Head Gasket are a bitch to change, most people just swap in entire motors from the Acura RL (new Legends.) They're bigger (3.5 as opposed to 3.2) and a lot more torque. I'll probably do another Legend but I want to be more certain.

it sounds like another legend would be a good buy for you
considering it would be in your price range
and you like the car and are familiar with it

just make sure you put those stick-on portholes on the next one too
