As already mentioned, most of the print/online car mags do "long term"tests of selected vehicles which can range from a year to a certain mileage....both of which usually fall well short of real world ownership length and mileage. The best thing to do (imo) is narrow down your car search to a handful of models (or a single model) and use a wide variety of sources to make your decision. Professional reviews/long term tests, actual owner reviews (such as MSN Auto, Edmunds etc..) and any online forums dedicated to those particular makes/models. Keep in mind that cars that appeal to "enthusiasts" or shade tree mechanics won't have the same number of reliability complaints as those that appeal to the "gas up and go" crowd...even if they are in fact more unreliable.

I do as well, easiest way to keep track of that stuff rather then shuffling through a bunch of receipts to find out when the last time you did something was.
