bitcoin mining uses 1% of earth's electricity

but per wikipedia , The hydrogenation of nitrogen to give ammonia is conducted on a vast scale by the Haber-Bosch process, consuming an estimated 1% of the world's energy supply.

so that's also... something to consider. do we really need that much ammonia?

if only we could find a way to perform the proof of work algorithms for cryptocurrencies without wasting so much energy, like maybe not using proofs-of-work like stellar does and reserving pow for untrusted transactions only
