It's pretty much impossible to find a new cameraphone that can take a pic as bad as that one.

While I do believe he wasn't bright for buying an RX-7 on this type of budget with no experience with them, the 3 grand budget is not terrible.

I bought my 96 Trans Am for 2600 a few years ago, and it has been nothing but reliable and fun.

Pics of center console and engine bay required. Does the trunk lid stay up on it's own? Hood is aluminum (should be fairly light) or steel?

Pretty sure the hood is aluminum, it isn't too heavy.

Trunk lid stays up, closes and locks fine.

@others - yeah the tires/rims aren't great, but I gotta save up before I get new ones.
I know I should have had a professional look at the rotary, but it definitely had plenty of juice - I test drove it driving uphill part of the way. I know 171k is a lot. But I'm in love with this car. I'm totally willing to do an engine rebuild when the time comes, I'm just hoping it's when the car is past 200k and I have plenty of money saved up.

Furthermore, a lot of work has already been put into this car before I bought it. The paint job obviously (LOL, haters can hate). A new water pump. A new driveshaft. A new valve for the intake manifold. New headlights.

This car is amazingly clean for 22 years. That -- and how fun it is -- led me to make the purchase. Honestly, this car is the most fun I've ever driven. That is, when I'm not in traffic.

Nice purchase. It looks like it has been taken care of. I hope you can get some good miles out of the current motor.

It doesn't look bad - for a car a teenager would drive. I personally couldn't stand driving around with that specific paintjob. Scallops on a '49 Chevy pickup, sure, but the only flames that belong on an RX-7 come out the exhaust.

Even in that shape I would not recommend that car to anyone who didn't know their way around a garage. Even myself, I wouldn't be too comfortable with that as a daily driver, and I'm the guy most of my friends come to for car advice. Hell, even the damn automotive students come to me when they give up, and I'm a business major!

Steering wheel isn't the vert one, the verts had airbags in the wheel. Engine bay looks fairly unmessed with, except for the aftermarket alarm horn and the brake master cylinder reservoir being all tilted to the right. Radiator has been replaced as well as the upper hose.

Does the clock on the center warning light panel work? Look for any cracks on the upper radiator hose leading down into the engine on the plastic piece with 3 bolts. That tends to crack and leak. Take a look at the heater hose coming out of the engine on the driver's side below the oil filter, see if it has a lot of oily buildup on it, if so order the replacement now and save yourself an engine. Do the wipers work on all settings? If not it is a fairly simple replacement of 2 relays in the wiper switch, Mazda didn't use sealed relays so they got corroded over time.

How are the seats under the covers? They tend to crack and rip due to being exposed to the sun with the top down.
