Did they pump up the difficulty in RB2 to be more comparable to GH, guitar and bass wise?

Did you try drums on expert? If not you didn't really play Rock Band.

If you bought Rock Band just for guitar then your doing it wrong and yes GH would be a better idea.

Once I pick this up on Wednesday I'll be down for some online Band World Tour. I can play either Guitar/Bass (expert) or Drums (Hard)

I do expert vocals and I can pass most stuff on expert guitar and drums. I passed Bodhisattva on guitar yesterday without much of a problem.

I can do hard vox and pass just about anything, expert guitar (pass everything with the exception of a few DLC) and expert drums (pass everything with the exception of a few of the hardest ones.)

lets roll. I'm jobless, I'm not in school, and I've got nothing better to do than play Rock Band.

I didn't mean to turn you away from Rock Band so let me clarify some of my points. I'd say the difficulty is about on par with Guitar Hero 2, maybe slightly easier because there is no Jordan On the other hand, some of the songs are pretty tough on guitar, namely the top tier ones. Much tougher than Rock Band 1. I'll lay out some highlights but just to give you an idea I'm "pretty good" at the plastic guitar. 5 starred everything on GH2 except for Jordan, Thunderhorse, and one other I can't remember (it was in the set before the last). I gold starred about 50% of RB1 before they changed the cutoff, so I was alright at that one too. Also, like an earlier poster said, if you play RB2 and just destroy everything on guitar then you need to try the drums. Drums in RB2 is to plastic drums what Guitar Hero 2 was to plastic guitars. Also, I compare RB to GH2 and not GH3 because I hated GH3 with a passion (slack HO/PO's and insane note charts that didn't match the song).

- Rock Band now has the best career mode, even for just single players. I play mostly by myself (at least 95% of the time) so just doing songs from the set list in Rock Band 1 was a pain in the ass, especially knowing that I was missing all the extra cool shit from the tour. This time around the game is much better at integrating your DLC and Rock Band 1 tracks, mystery set lists have thrown me just about everything and not the typical 3 songs you have unlocked when you start (if you played Rock Band 1 tour at release you know what I mean. Maps every set list anyone?)
- Hyperspeed is back, and thank God for that. You can find the option in the extras tab on the main menu. No cheat needed a la Guitar Hero 2.
- Bass is definitely much tougher this time around. Don't get me wrong, its much more laid back playing bass than it is playing guitar, but bass right now is almost perfect for drunk playing on expert. You can also do a career in bass mode as well as guitar so its almost like you get two guitar tracks per song, which is awesome.
- Hammer ons and pull offs are a little more laid back than they were in Rock Band 1, which I find a good thing because I'd say right now HO/PO's are almost identical to Guitar Hero 2.
- Daily (or weekly or whatever) challenges are awesome. Basically Harmonix decides they'll do a competition and list out songs and conditions. For example, there's one up right now that's bass only and basically you play 3 songs in a row and see how long you can keep going without missing a note. I got 900 something and the leader had 2,000 something (lol). After you complete it and go back to that tab you can see not only what your rank is, but what you have to do to get into the top 100. So awesome, going to kill a lot of time.
- I think they fixed multiplayer. I played three games online (score battle) and didn't have one person quit out. I hope its fixed, being able to quit in a song and have no penalty really killed online play in RB1

Those are pretty much the highlights. It doesn't sound like you played much RB1 but I think I can sum it up by saying that everything I didn't like about RB1 appears to have been fixed in this go around. Also, dunno if anyone else was following the Grateful Dead pack before it came out, but once it was released we only got 6 songs instead of 7, the missing one being Alabama Getaway. I now know why that song didn't make it into the pack, its fucking awesome and belongs on the game list and not DLC. Bon Jovi will be awesome for drunk people, as well as Billy Idol. Early songs are questionable, Modest Mouse and a few others fucking suck but I can handle it (they wont come up often if you import RB1 songs and have decent DLC. Rock Band 2 has like 80 songs, plus 55 from RB1 and I have over 70 DLC songs so that's, what, 205?)

Finally, last tier is fucking tough for me because I'm only "pretty good", so Painkiller is hard (to me).

I don't know if this is the old code but the new one is.

Red, Yellow, Blue, Red, Red, Blue, Blue, Red, Yellow, Blue

Now I believe this opens them up for good unlike the old code.

Tour mode is cool but I still wish you could just play through each song 1 at a time to unlock them. I really only play Rock Band when we have a group of people over or a RB party. I just want to unlock all of the songs ASAP.

You want the marathon challenges. Create a character and go to the challenges tab. I think you have to do one of the warm ups before doing a marathon but once you start doing that beat all the marathon challenges and you will have all the songs unlocked. I'm pretty sure the cheat code disables tour progress and all of that, but I'm not sure because I haven't used it but once.

Anyone? There are stores in my area that have them, just didnt buy one yet. I got the new drums though and have to say Im happy with them. A LOT quieter then the old ones.

(sorry I'm posting so much). I got one of the RB2 guitars yesterday with the game. I like it a bit more than the RB1 version, but mostly because its wireless. The frets are a little less slippery because of the finish and the strum bar is a little firmer. Still no loud strumming like the explorer and les paul. Auto calibration is nice too, set right up and worked after using it.
