Dang that's a lot to spend on not that old of a bike. $700 for sprockets+chain+wheel alignment is crazy.

yah...I would expect maybe 3-400 for a new chain and sprockets, and alignment on a bike is BS, you can do the front and rear tires in about 15 minutes.....

Headlight+brackets, bar ends+mirrors, front turns signals, eliminator kit, back side fairing bolts/washers/etc, or tank/seat lock for sale? I'm also interested in your pan if it's salvageable

Need a judges ruling. I purchased my first bike over winter (2008 Suzuki GS500F), and over the snowy months took the time to get some proper gear together. I've found when you ask around about whats a good Alpinestars leather jacket, the stock answers you get are MX-1's and RC-1's, so I picked up an RC not realizing it had the bump on the back.

Do I look like a tool ripping around on a 500cc V Twin looking like Im ready for MotoGP with my jacket?

1: I can't see that picture (upload it to uploderx.net (no really, not imageshack or crap like that))
2: a Suzuki GS500F has a parallel twin, not a V-twin
3: depends on how ridiculous that hump is

You look like you're dressed for the crash, which is what's important.

The bump is a personal preference. It's not going to make any difference unless you're doing 140+ on a race track (as far as aero goes), but a lot of people like the aesthetics. I have one on my suit, which I like. But my street jacket doesn't. Personally, I think your jacket is pretty sweet

Do yourself a favor though, and pick up some pants. I wear the following gear:

Although, after tens of thousands of miles, the jacket doesn't look as white anymore.

The pants are great. They are a leather/mesh combination, with armor and double stitching in all the right places. It's about 70% mesh, 30% leather. The mesh keeps you cool, and it's lightweight. But you don't sacrifice protection, because the leather/armor is on all the contact points (hips, butt, knees).

You is fine.

The GS is a great bike, good choice Don't let people tell you that it's not a "real" bike - it may not have the power of a 600 but it's a load of fun and a lot more practical (AND fun) around town. Driving a 600 from stoplight to stoplight gets really old really fast, which is why my GS stuck around and my GSX-R didn't.

Suggestions for mods: First thing to do is upgrade the front suspension. New springs for progressive are well under $100 shipped and take less than 1 hour to install. They make a world of a difference, the stock springs are garbage made from paperclips or something. They are sprung correctly for a 40 lbs rider. This made a HUGE difference in the ride - while the rear end is...adequate...the front end is completely unacceptable and will bottom when braking over any sort of bumps.

Oh yeah, www.gstwins.com
