also, it's quite possible that the forks are twisted in the clamps

I'm going to try the fork trick you guys mentioned anyways, but the suspension did travel a bit better today. Just rolling forward in the garage with the front brake engaged, I noted 1" of travel which seems normal. I'll ride tomorrow if it is warmer and see how it feels with a clear mind.

The engine cover also doesn't look as bad off as I thought, haggard yes, but a risk for failure and leaks, not so much. I'll eventually replace it, but after I perform my brake upgrades.

Adjusted the chain slack, and lubed the throttle cable/housing today. It's amazing what a little routing maintenance does for the ride. Downshifts are crisp again.

So he nicked you for speeding, being too loud, and modified lights huh?

Every day I consider myself lucky as hell for being let off doing 110 in a 55. I've kept shit on the down-low ever since.

How much was the ticket?

edit: At least you can ride your shit still. It got all icy and snowy here.

double edit: considering the loud exhaust and modified lights shit, I'm gonna take a stab at you living in Kalifornia?

Eh Liz will get it down. Huge fine though. If you goto court yourself most judges in EC would suspend your license for 30 days.

edit: actually you got lucky, they still cited you for 22349a, just general speeding, not 22348b which is specifically 100mph+ and requires the 30 day suspension + lvl 2 traffic school + 2 points on the license.

That's the thing... story goes:

Was going to meet some friends in El Cajon for a ride. Got on the interstate, road was empty, so I decided to open it up for a short stretch. Got up to about 140 when I passed a moto CHP waiting at an on-ramp. He caught up with me (2 miles later), and lit me up.

He acknowledged that I could have out run him, and said he was surprised I stopped, which is probably why he cut me such a HUGE break by only citing me for 22349 (A). The other two are equipment violations which are correctable:

-Loud Exhaust
-Modified Lighting (My signals are integrated into my taillight in the rear)

I'm relieved, he could have really fucked me over if he wanted to. Gonna fax it over to my traffic attorney, she'll take care of the rest.

Conclusion: I *really* need to get to a damn track day already.

Kalifornia will still give you a ticket if you have turn signals, just not the stock ones?

Signals are integrated INTO the light. Need to have an additional set of signals on either side of the plate.

That really is lame shit. Even when I got pulled over and given a fix-it ticket for having my plate mounted in front of the tire, the cop didn't give two shits about having integrated lights.

I even got pulled over once because a cop thought I didn't have any - soon as he saw they were integrated he didn't give a shit and drove off after checking my license/insurance.

I've been pulled over twice in the same situation (speeding, loud exhaust, integrated tail light) and the cops never say anything about the equipment. They're just horny to write speeding tickets and forget everything else.

Picked up a replacement shifter for a Yamaha YZ90 at Cyclegear, fit like a charm. Still have to replace my bent rearset perch, but I can do so at a bit more leisurely pace now. Also saw that the passenger peg mount broke as well, but they are fairly easy to come by.

Also ordered all new brake pads (EBC 'HH') and am still searching for a decent used or cheap new rear rotor. The last part of my brake upgrade will be ordered soon, which includes a radial master cylinder and Pazzo (copies) levers.

the taillight on that bike is awfully narrow, which makes integrated not all that good.

also, I've been pulled over multiple times with no turn signals at all - including one time with only a DOT high beam, nothing else DOT - and never had issues.
