Even though mines a last of the 750's it still is very fast, not liter bike fast but It can hold it's own pretty well against the 600's, not so much off the line but once you get around 60-70mph the viffers shine.

The vfr1200 should help there. Ok, actually it should shit all over a 600 in a drag race. 170hp

I had a 750 v4, I liked it's character. Thought about buying some old ass vfr750, but the weight makes me want something else. Those things are over 500lb and i don't think there's much that can come off.

That's pretty cheap, assuming you actually need a new regulator.

I personally find the weight relaxing. Helps on those longer trips. and yeah the vfr1200 has one of the quickest 0-60 and 0-100 ever.

I know some of you ride Palomar, so I'll just leave this right here. Was actually planning on heading out there Sunday depending on the weather. Guess I'll axe that idea

This Sunday, Feb 27, the CHP has authorized overtime for four motor officers who will be patrolling Palomar Mountain from approximately 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM. They will be cracking down on ALL motorcycle violations -- speeding, passing in no passing zones, racing, etc. They have been instructed to issue citations only, and no warnings. "Palomar Mountain Zero Tolerance Sunday" is what they're calling the crackdown internally.

My contact is a CHP officer, and he clued me in. I agree it seems ridiculous with the weather that we've had, but that's their plan!!
As I understand it the overtime has been authorized and must be used on Sunday (government bureaucracy again!), so if Palomar Mountain isn't an option I suspect they'll patrol hwy 76.
Each officer is "encouraged" to write a minimum of two citations every hour of the operation. AKA: They want 14 tickets per officer by the end of the day. With four extras on patrol, quick math says 56 tickets. Say speeding tickets.. roughly $500 all said and done. They have income potential of $28,000 on Sunday!!

Greg

Pretty odd considering it's supposed to rain all day Saturday

Gonna try the Power Ones next. $360 is a LOT for a set of tires though.

I wish, $360 is retail + mount and balance on a rear around here

Mine is hard to start after 2 weeks but will still usually work. Sort of unrelated but I plan to upgrade the ground and 12vdc+ power wires eventually as they are a bit undersized in hopes of more consistent charging while the bike is running. The standard wires get very hot on their own due to the small gauge.

I had older Power Races on my Triumph for a bit... slippery as all hell when cold but when they warmed up....

The Dunlop Q2's I run now are nice and cheap, but they still slip and slide a bit when it is cold out.

Yeah.. I also don't have a generator + tire warmers for the track either.

Not to mention, the bike is pulling street duty in between track days. Would be a waste to put such expensive tires through countless heat cycles around town. What I really need is a tire changer, and a second set of wheels.

Maintenance. Loading up to go to my buddies garage.

Tank + Airbox removed. Coils were easily accessible after removing the trapezoid shaped shroud at the top of the picture.

Out with the old... in with the new. All 4 looked just as good.

Took a peak at the valves. Small deposits forming.. should probably stick to Chevron from now on. Also noticed a TINY bit of oil in the airbox, so I'm going to keep the oil level just a tad bit lower.

Pulled the wheels to get the new tires mounted/balanced. Flushed the brakes with RBF-600. Flushed the coolant. Also did a laundry list of other minor adjustments.

Fun day wrenching, learned a lot about this particular bike.

thats completely reassuring. Shop is a certified Honda parts dealer too, so they use straight up Honda parts, instead of any thousand of the chinese knock-offs they could get around here. They've done me good so far.

Bikes running MUCH smoother now. Power delivery is cleaner, lights are brighter, cluster lights arent flickering anymore....

Other than the burst water pipe that jacked up three lanes on my my ride to work this morning, all is good.
