Bought a Verizon BB Bold 9650 to use on AT&T... Can't be activated on Verizon.

Love the phone but after I discovered that the following didn't work: 3G, MMS, GPS, etc... I sold it.

The buyer is now having trouble activating the phone on Verizon and naturally wants his money back. Apparently it is still attached to a Verizon account that is delinquent.

What recourse do I have?
- Ideally, contact the original owner and have them remove the device from their account. (Don't have their contact info)
- Use the phone on AT&T while I wait for the account to go into collections when the ESN will become usable. (Will it?)
- Demand my money back from the seller.

Ideas? I have called Verizon 9 times and gotten 5 different explanations and very little help.
What would you do?

Your thread title is contradictory, you actually bought a Verizon phone (CDMA) to use with ATT (GSM)?

So I'm guessing you bought a used CDMA phone thinking you could use it with ATT....but it's still tied to the account of the seller or whoever he or you stole it from...correct?

are you the seller or the buyer

also, phones are not tied to accounts unless they're stolen.

also also, somneone who buys a phone without first checking to see if it'll even work on the carrier they have is retarded

That BB can be used on AT&T if unlocked. Its an "international" Verizon phone meaning it has a GSM radio and sim slot for international GSM use

Oh ok, I didn't realize that any Verizon phone had GSM capability.

It's still a Blackberry, and they are terrible. You should have gotten a Droid or iPhone.

this. email/messaging they're top notch, everything else they're boring.

on topic, using 9650 on AT&T is ridiculous. even though it's a global phone, it doesn't have WCDMA 850 or 1900 which is what US 3G runs on.
