jogging on the spot good for losing weight?

I don't get a chance to go out much but I can do as much jogging on the spot as I like.

How effective is jogging on the spot vs normal running outside?

Any health risks or problems associated with jogging on the spot?

I was thinking also of doing some invisible skipping rope jumping--my office is too small for getting an actual jump rope.

I also have some dumbells I can lift while i work at my screen.

Um, you need to keep your heartrate up for ~20 minutes to do any good so if you can keep it up for that long then try it out and let us know? Also, it could take weeks to get results.

My real question is, "You don't have 20 minutes you can spare after work to run around the block a few times?"

Seconding this... there must be some way you can make room to jump rope if there's room to run in place.

It will be a far better workout.

Yep, for stand still exercises, this one's the best.
