Replacing Recaro Bolsters (pics!)

Figured this could be useful to some others who might have f'd up bolsters on your factory Recaros.

In my 1995 Evolution III the outer bolsters both needed replacing on the front seats. The driver side was much worse than the passenger, and I was lucky to get this done before any damage was done to the fabric itself.

First I popped apart the drivers seat. Its pretty straight forward to take apart. The rails come off with an allen key, and the fabric is held on with a series of clips. I used a flat top screwdriver and needlenose vice grips to get it all apart.

The foam was all f'd up

Hit it up with that new hotness

D/S all done

The passenger side saw a less wear over the years, so it wasn't near as bad

Old garbage

New fire

Both seats ready to be reinstalled, bolsters nice n tight

I'm interested as well. The seats in my MR2 are in desperate need of attention. I've been thinking of doing something like this, but I'd have to make new foam things first, unless I can find somewhere that sells them pre-cut.

Nice Job. My Corbeaus are showing a little wear as well. I wonder if they sell replacement pads.

I just bought the car so I'm going through it and modding it to take the boost I'll want to run. I'm waiting on the machine shop to get the head, block and flywheel back to me. Once I have those parts I can build up the motor.

I'm going with Manley forged 9:1 cr pistons and Manley rods. Otherwise just the usual, better head gasket, arp everything, new seals and gaskets, t belt stuff, yada yada.

Oh its all good, just gonna do the valve stem seals now before winter. Some time over the winter I'm gonna pull the gearbox and rebuild it. Other than that, I'm changing the 4.11 gears out for 5.22s and that's about it. Til I turbo it again
