Hardware doesn't make you a gamer.
Go get a 10$ USB KB and a decent USB optical mouse. |

I'd go with the G15 at that price.

i have a first gen G15 and i love it. It's good if you play MMOs. I casually play LOTRO and with the g keys, one press can heal a person, so that saves valuable time in a battle.
The lcd is pretty meh, unless your keyboard is about an inch under your screen it's a pain to deviate your eyes from your monitor to your keyboard LCD, I do like (not sure if it's on the new ones) the button that disables the windows key so if you press it while in a game nothing happens. The back lit keys kick ass, definable my favorite part of the keyboard.

I have the Gen 2 G15, the one with orange back lighting as opposed to blue. Aaand a G5 gen 2 for my mousing needs. Love 'em both, highly recommend them... Alot of people balk at paying this kind of money for PC peripherals, but in my mind it's worth it just for the comfort/quality. Also, Logitechs customer service/replacement policy is the best you can find.

First gen G15 is cool, but the 2nd is better, even though it has a smaller LCD. But you won't use it for much anyways unless you get heavy into LCDStudio. It has less "G" keys on the left but to be honest, I never used those in my first gen either.
G5 is a great mouse, but the G500 is better... i want one ![]() |

I use the 1st gen G11 for autocad, not for games. The programmable keys let me run scripts when writing lisp routines or custom commands is not allowed. (Some machines at work)

I got a g11 solely because it has a volume wheel. I hate volume buttons.

I'll just play devil's advocate here ... I've owned both a G15 and a Tarantula... currently using the Tarantula and I vastly prefer it to the Logitech.
The Logitech had much better macro performance. I could press one button and mill a bag full of herbs in WoW... the tarantula's macros could only go like 8 keystrokes deep and delays didn't work at all. But the build quality is MUCH higher. It FEELS and TYPES like a 100 dollar keyboard. The logitech types like any other old logitech keyboard. Unless macros and the LCD functionality are the main selling points for you (I can't imagine why that would be..) get a Tarantula.

I have a 2nd gen G15 and it doesn't type like a cheap ass keyboard to me. The keys and board itself have a good solid feel to it and dont' feel loose when you are typing.

It seems that G15 is a good choice. Is the LCD screen useful for game?

I used to say that about getting a "decent" mouse. Always had a simple optical one. But I really liked this G9 mouse for the shape... not really for the laser because I didnt think much of them before. But now that I have one, the "gaming laser" with higher DPI is not a gimmick. Its a night and day difference from a normal "non-gaming" mouse. http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/mi.../5092&cl=us,en The thing is wonderful. It even has the profiles for custom keys on the mouse itself, so it doesnt add any extra processes to your computer.... no need to load up logitech shit drivers on your PC.
