Add FDIC, the airlines, and the big automakers to the bailout party

Yeah so as the markets and big US companies continue to do amazingly shitty, there is more and more talk amongst the politicians and corporate people about more bailouts. FDIC expressed concern that if bank failures continue they will also need taxpayer money. The airlines continue slimming down businesses and not making any money because of fuel costs and the overall broke-ness of americans today.

Let me just note that many respected economists (obviously not MSM economists that work for the banks and financials that benefit from bailouts) are predicting total costs of a fannie/freddy bailout to be anywhere from 800bn to 2.5 trillion over several years.

Aren't you glad that while we are all to varying degrees just scraping by or worse, the gov is taking (through taxation and infaltion) your money from you and giving it to companies whose products/services you can no longer justify or afford?

fixing the price fixing of oil would solve all of these problems and could be done in a day. but then republicans couldn't exploit the situation to try and get their contributors more drilling leases, and democrats wouldn't be able to blame republicans and slaughter them in elections.

thus the only thing both sides agree on is fixing the situation would be bad.

wtf are you fucking retarted?

You can't fix the price of oil unless the government picks up the tab.... and we are so awash in $$$ already

btw- the FDIC is the biggest scam ever. They have $30 billion (down from $50 billion a few months ago) to cover $3 trillion in deposits.

$1 to cover every $1000

Ouch.

but on a more serious note do you have any links that mention anything of a price range of total bailouts?

It's crazy to me how the U.S has about 9 trillion in debts (probably wrong but its fucking high) And are just going to add another possible 2+ trillion onto the debt to bail out corporations.

What the fuck happened to free market and allowing the market to correct itself.

that's way to politically unpopular. Government must spend itself into oblivion
and don't forget the Washington buddies with all the corporations (and 2/3 of them don't pay taxes).... o life is good eh

I was reading an article from the cheif economist at Yale who said this housing crysis will/could be worse then the great depression.

And yet you back up NONE of that.

God fucking dammit, how about you actually prove what your saying isn't made up diarrhea of the mouth disorder.

And for every fucking YALE economist that predicts the doom and gloom of the market there are 10 that predict the opposite.

Fuck I remember not even 2 weeks ago when most of the "far left and out there" sites were talking about the next cold war and war with Russia due to the Georgian conflict.

JUST BECAUSE YOU READ IT DOESN'T MEAN ITS GOING TO HAPPEN.

You twat.

Funny McLame mentioned Russia in his speech at the RNC as if a new cold war could happen.

I'm a pathetic virgin.

I would laugh if Osama bails out Ford, GM and Mopar since I'd bet that motherfucker owns 5 Priuses, 2 Mercedes S-Classes, 2 Honda Insights and 1 Range Rover.

I think a policy of tough love should apply to corporations, but the FDIC is a government entity.

fuck bailing out fannie and freddie, or any of the automakers

the only one i agree with bailing out is the airlines, they will never make any money, they never have, but as a public service they are necessary

QFT... Airlines routes are controlled by the FAA as well as how and when they can fly.
I was reading the costs involved in purchasing a plane and breaking even after 15+ years

The big three auto makers have become a HMO...the feds may have to bail them out no matter what happens due to all the pensions and health care of retired workers.

That's way INTERNATIONAL airlines like Cathay Pacific/Singapore/JAL/ANA/Lufthansa/Qantas/Virgin/Malaysia to name a few lease planes from other airlines or from GE/ILFC/CIT. If they do buy planes, they hold onto them for 20+ years, or wet lease them out.

Congrats Government, You just cost me another $3330+ to bail out some fradulant bankers. But I understand, our financial system is so fragile that if you did not bail them out the entire thing would have collapsed.

We just increased the government defecit by $1 trillion today by taking Fannie and Freddie under the wing of the government.
