FS/FT: Blackberry Bold 9700 (T-mo)

have a brand new in box t-mobile 9700 that im looking to sell for $400 shipped.

looking for a few types of trades. canon or nikon DSLR 40d, 50d range as far as features/model goes.
another possible trade would be an xbox 360 or a macbook/pro, mac mini or current model imac. possibly even a PC desktop depending on specs.

phone is currently locked to t-mobile

no pics because it would just be a pic of the box. if you need pics and are semi serious id be glad to take some shots.

Serious question. Why would someone buy it for 400 when you can get it for 150 with a contract? I own one and that's how I got it.

Edit: At the very least, you should unlock it yourself prior to attempting to sell it.

because with a no contract plan you save atleast $20/mo on a talk text web plan from tmo compared to the exact same 2yr contract plan price.

Those plans are good if the phone cost you nothing. If you pull 400 from your pocket yea you save 20 bucks a month but break up the 400 over the course of the contract and you are almost exactly at the same price if you just got it with a contract.

Basically it only makes sense if the phone you buy outright costs less than the savings + subsidized phone on contract for 2 years.

OR.....

You sell the phone at the same price or slightly more than it would cost someone to upgrade to it.
Ex. A bold will cost me 150 bucks in 2 months, but for that I need to extend my contract for another 2 years. I dont care one way or the other right now, but id take the phone for 200 so I dont have to sign up again and have the option to bounce in a year. Otherwise id take the subsidized phone for 150, sell it after a year for 200 and use that to cancel my contract early.

------

Only people really buying phones at retail are those who need to use them in other countries or on carriers that dont provide the same phone which can also mean other countries.

well over that 2 year period you would still be saving money with a no contract plan.

a unlimited talk text and web plan from tmo for one line is 99.99, with a 2 year contract and subsidized phone
the same exact plan is 79.99 with no contract and full price phone

over two years that contract plan with subsidized BB9700 @ $130 would cost you $2530 before taxes
no contract plan over two years with the BB9700 @ $400 would cost you $2320

while that savings may not be substantial to some its a savings nonetheless. Tmo also allows you to break that $400 phone in a 20 month no interest payment plan @ $20 a month, it would only bump your monthly bill up to the same amount as that 2 yr contract.

with that no contract plan its important to remember u get much more flexibility as far as changing your plan whenever you like to adjust for months with lower usage (ie. bumping down to a 1500 minute plan for a month since your usage would be lower).

IMO the no contract plan is the way to go, but to each his own.
