The full video is weird, because they pull him out and then just abandon him spread eagle in the middle of the road.

not really, you're not really supposed to move someone after an accident like that. back/neck/etc damage. but he had to be moved because of the fire.

plus, they probably thought he was dead or something.

I thought that was kinda weird too. I almost wonder if there was that instinctual "ick, dead body" thing in everyone that just made them scatter away because he looked lifeless.

I don't think so, it was more the fear of american legal liability... The woman that spotted him as "alive" under the car saw him breathing or something and yelled it out, which is why everyone helped.

untrue.

basically if someone is unconscious and cannot say "no don't help me"

you can do whatever you feel is right in that situation as long as it's not actual medical stuff (unless you're certified or whatever in the scope of support you're planning to do)

and cannot get punished for it.

only when someone declined help can you get in trouble.

Hmm. That's good to know, never knew exactly how that works.

I would definitely pull the guy away from the car, but I too would leave him there like those people did.

In retrospect, Schwartz writes, the Pinto's safety record appears to have been very typical of its time and class. In over 10 years of production, and 20 years that followed, with over 2 million Pintos produced, no more people died in fires from Pintos as died in fires from Maximas...

Well, Pintos do come from a time when corporations valued peoples' lives as less than $11 per body... oh, snap.
