Blizzard is about the only company I can think of who has never let me down with a computer game. That said, they also have more money than any other company (especially with their activision merger) so their titles are always oozing quality.

New IP? Not sure, but if there is, it'll be stinkin awesome

Starcraft Ghost probaby sucked, or was your average run-of-the-mill fps, so they abandoned it.

I'm betting the mmo is a starcraft one, and an mmo in the starcraft universe made by blizzard makes me all wet.

Too bad you wont find out for another 10 years or so.

If the specifically say "It's an MMO not related to Warcraft and not related to Diablo"... that'd make me suspicious about why they didn't also eliminate Starcraft or just say "new IP".

Although Blizzard does seem to be a three horse race there is also something to be said for keeping with the IPs. They can create nearly any genre of game out of SC/WC/Diablo. Although Diablo seems to be set to be a hack and slash only while SC is only a RTS, we've seen Warcraft morph from a RTS to a MMO. We all know how life sucking a Diablo MMO would be or that SC can be made to be a FPS (even though it was cancelled)

That being said, there are rumours that Blizzard is working on an unknown. I've read a few places saying they have four projects on the go. WOTLK, D3, and SC2. What is #4? A lot of people seem to feel it is WoW2 but nothing to back that.

I actually don't understand why a lot of people fault blizzard for not creating new IPs. 3 distinctly themed and heavily developed worlds is far more than most companies are ever capable of coming up with.

SC2 and D3 are two totally different genres though. SC2 doesn't require you to build and maintain a persistent character, like D3. You can jump on SC2, play a few games, then go back to WoW when it's time to raid etc. With Diablo, you're going to experience a direct competition for time, since success in both games is a function of how much time you invest into grinding and collecting loot. WoW is essentially a very slowed down diablo with a little balancing and some group mechanics.

Not to say that some people won't maintain their WoW subscriptions, but casual players likely wont (as they barley have enough time for WoW alone), and a large portion of end game players will quickly lose interest in the mundane mudflation cycle that WoW has become. People will see Diablo as something shiny and new, as well as more cost effective. At the very least, Blizzard is going to see a ton of temporary subscription cancellations.

meh, d3 won't come out for another 2-3 years. WoW will have run its course by then. Blizzard already said WOTLK is the last expansion.

IDK, I get the feeling most wow zombies won't even care about Diablo 3 b/c it is not an MMO.

im pretty sure this is against everything blizzard stands for. I sure as hell woudl be very suprised and disappointed if they try anythign like this.

there are very few companies in the world that i would say have the kind of support and huge numbers of loyal (addicted) fan base blizzard has right now.
I doubt they would do anything silly to change that.

seriously, can you think of another company in any field that's like blizzard?

With a new Starcraft and Diablo on the way.. the last thing I want to hear is either of those becoming anything... including this MMO. I demand a new IP.

Take the condom off Blizz, give it to me raw.
