I think the fact there even exists a Mustang that stands with a group like this is a huuuuge testament to just how good it is these days.

Chevy should have spent more time making the new camaro better and less time making it a movie star.

Porsche 911 GT2 is top of the line

Also I am pretty sure the top of the line Shelby is quicker in a quarter mile.

The GT-R(2.8 seconds to 60 is no joke) will slaughter the GT500 off the line and the Z06 also destroyed it due to the Shelby having no traction.

Wasn't there always a mustang with a big motor that does well in a drag race?

I was surprised, I thought GTR and 458 would be 4th or 5th-ish...

But that's what sells.... not the technical stuff. Audi did the same thing with those Transporter movies.. Mini in the italian job.... etc

Although they did as good of a job on the camaro as they could - what would you like to see done to it?

You're seriously going to refute what I said?

Yeah, you're right, Mustangs have always been quick enough to keep up with Ferraris and such.

edit: Also, I guess you don't know much about them. They haven't had "big motors" really aside from the very rare big block models from 68-71 and then the factory supercharged ones, which were still not that amazing (about as fast as an LS1 fbody or a little faster in 03-04 and then reappeared with 500hp in 2007 then 540/550hp in 2010/2011) Other than that the Mustang has had V8 power obviously but usually not something that would compete against top end Corvettes and Ferraris.

AND the Boss does it all naturally aspirated.

Furthermore the Boss placed 5th in all of those cars. Better than the 1M too

Some quotes from the article:

Quote:
"This has to be the best Mustang ever built," said Pobst. "It's without question the best Mustang ever made," declared road test editor Scott Mortara. "I can't believe this is a Mustang," said Justin Bell. "Best Mustang EV-AH, hands down," chimed none other than own Frank Markus. "Best-handling Mustang I've ever driven. The best Mustang they've ever built, frankly," says Scott Evans.
Quote:
The front-end brake dive we've noticed on scores of other Mustangs was absent. You felt fully in control as you slowed to turn. Ford, finally! What a great feeling. And the Boss' turn-in was even better. The car seemed genuinely excited about leaping into a corner. Moreover, it felt balanced in mid-corner, something that can't be said for other Mustangs. We all came away super-impressed by the Boss 302 Laguna Seca, the least expensive car of the group. Febbo summed it up with, "Not only does it feel raw and slightly dangerous, but it actually feels like a world-class car."
I've always liked Mustangs but nobody ever would have said these things about the old ones, ever.

-"Hang with?" They could always do that... just not win. These cars are the mid-range offerings. Bring an Enzo out there. As an aside, a 68 Dodge Dart SS is faster than an Enzo in the 1/4... with bias ply tires I don't know a lot about the big mustangs of yesteryear but american pny cars always had something to offer in a straight line and I'd be surprised if they couldn't "hang with" some of the older middle of the road italian exotics in the 60s/70s.

-Naturally aspirated - yes, that's why it has 5 liters. The Evora has a little camry motor. It can "hang with" the 5.0 too.

-M1: turn the boost up a little
