Lets think logically. When you are in boost the PCV should be closed to the same effect as capping it, therefore, the problem should have presented itself sooner. I think the capped PCV is a coincidence, especially because he probably drove the car a lot harder than before.

It's still a little confusing as he refers to capping his PCV valve but as Lurker says if it was plumbed as per the standard N/A engine and was working correctly then it would have been closed under boost regardless. I'm assuming he has altered the setup to correct this but I don't think it's a silly point for Lurker to bring up as it wasn't made very clear in the OP.
