No, I'm going through the walls and into the crawlspace. No attic, unfortunately.

I am becoming a pro with my greenlee drill extension, though.

What kind of insulation do you have in the walls? I've fished cat 5 through the walls and it's a fucking pain in the ass. I want to do it for speaker wire, but I get angry just thinking about it

...insulation?

The outer walls are insulated in the master bedroom (converted from a garage in 1978) at what I assume whatever R-value was "state of the budget" back then, but the outer walls in the original house are just lath and plaster over open air. Since the house is so small (1500 sq. ft., ~1200 of which is uninsulated), the cost to heat/cool is really not that onerous.

Makes it easy-peasy to pull cable though. Just gotta get through the firebreaks.

It looks, from the crawlspace, like they thought about insulating it, but gave up after they finished my daughter's floor.

Not that surprising, given the half-smoked joint in the wall of the bathroom, or the automotive radiator hoses connecting the sinks to the drains.

No, it's just your typical mid-century plaster over plasterboard lath setup...

Better buy them all up: they're being phased out in favor of Southwire tools.

I'm surprised a house that old has fireblocks.

Maybe spray expanding foam into the walls?

Le finished product:

I went with the natural colors - no cobalt blue or turquoise, just the natural finish as they came out of the bosque.

Use the heaviest, skinniest fishing weight you can find and go from the top. Also avoid outside walls and utility walls if possible.
