It doesn't always transcode correctly, and I'd much rather take the 2 minutes to remux (not encode) that mkv into a native mp4 than allow on-the-fly transcoding. Granted, I end up doing this like once or twice a month, if that.

u can FF and RW with instantly?

No buffering or anything?

You talking about with a native MKV file, or one that has been remuxed to something like M2TS for PS3? If you're talking about a remuxed file, I can FF/RW instantly with no buffering whatsoever, and like he said, it only takes 5 - 10 minutes per HD movie if it's got a DTS track, less if it's AC3.

Occasionally files with dts tracks will have choppy sound, and none of the renderers will transcode to ac3 on the fly properly. mkv2vob fixes the issue, but like I said I only come across it once or twice a month at most.

1.5x and 10x work on all files, the next (30x?) doesn't always work though. I'm on gig-e though.

Are you on the latest release? I've never run into that problem. Make sure you check these boxes:

Keep DTS in stream
DTS/Flac -> LPCM
