Hit me up on AIM, I'll give you the rundown. I average around 80apm most of the time, I've seen some crazy ass koreans throwing 170+ apm (actions per minute)

pros have a minimum of 250 and a peak of 1000 nowadays (average 300-600 i think) D:

i'm currently bordering around 200 average, it's a big sense of accomplishment when you not only get faster but find yourself able to react and pretty much do everything faster, when you realize that not all your actions are spam i guess :P

I tried since I bought it 6 years ago to get good at Starcraft but I still suck massive amounts I just suck at picking strategies that don't end in too few units or me just getting raped.

1000 apm?

They're doing something 16 times every second? I find that hard to believe.

like i said, it peaks at that point so it's not something that lasts for more than a brief second, and only at certain micro- and multitask-intensive points, and it's not something that's very common, but it's possible

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ROIAT_8Snk0

peaks at 800, which is 13 actions a second, but obviously he's not pushing that for more than a second at the most

there are a few starcraft launchers that have plenty of plugins to make sc a bit more enjoyable (LAN latency on bnet or an apm counter in the top corner of the screen for instance)

a program that simply measures APM from replays is called bwchart. i don't wanna be accused of site pimping so just google it.

I could not play this game online at all mostly because everyone who plays is pro and I join and am stomped before I can do anything.

Edit - I did enjoy the story of the single player though I'd say it was worth that at least.

starcraft has a really high learning curve that not everyone has the time or energy to overcome.

i wouldn't say everyone is pro though; there are just as many newbs on bnet if not more, as well as those who play mainly ums maps or compstomps

it's interesting really; about a year ago i was averaging 100-110, then it sorta got up to 140-160, and then a month or two ago jumped up to 190-200

i think the best way to get faster is just to play a lot as well as understand why/how you won/lost (and other general theorycraft), use hotkeys (the 1-9 and f2-f4 keys) and to pay a lot of attention to your minimap. it's also a mental thing too, you have to realize that you need to get faster and with enough playing you'll get faster too

of course, i can't say that all my clicks aren't spam; spam can be good too since constantly staying at a fast apm is better and more comfortable than going from a low non-spamming apm during lulls and then jumping to a really fast one. speed isn't everything either; i can beat 250apm terrans and lose easily to 140apm protoss players simply due to good/bad gaming sense or timing.

bwchart is best really for analyzing replays and whatnot, but if you want an ingame counter you'll need a starcraft launcher

i only know of advloader and chaoslauncher, which have a whole bunch of other plugins as well (obs mode, lan latency, window mode, replays with text). to be honest, i'd only stick with one of those two, as any other ones you might find will most likely help you cheat.

and for the record, yeah, these plugins can be considered hacks but the two i've mentioned only exist for a better sc experience and don't give the players using it an unfair advantage in anyway. unless you find being able to read your current apm an unfair advantage.
